Hope Pastures have taken ownership of a pair of older horses recently who have had to come into the rescue centre. Wallace and Maisey are two older horses whose owner sadly passed away and so they are now seeking a forever home together to live out their years in comfort and happiness.

Wallace was born in 1994 and He is Thoroughbred type standing at 16.2hh and Maisey was born in 2002, she is a Percheron X and is 16hh. Both horses are sweet-natured and friendly, Maisey is a little more spirited than Wallace, being a bit younger. Wallace relies on Maisey for reassurance when he is worried, which is really sweet. They have been together for 7 years and are inseparable! Both horses have worked hard all of their lives and if anyone is deserving of a happy retirement and lots of TLC it is them.

Wallace served for many years as a Cavalry horse in the Queens’ Regiment and was relied on to teach the new riders and younger horses how to behave, due to his experience and his reliable nature.

Maisey was a pleasure horse and entered dressage competitions in her younger days, winning championships and trying hard to please her owner. Safe to say Maisey was the apple of her owner's eye. Maisey is a little lost without her mum of 14 years. Both horses are a pleasure to have around and good in all ways. They enjoy being groomed and pampered and are good for the Vet and the Farrier, and the dentist.

They will need a period of settling in to completely relax but that is understandable having not moved house for 7 years. As they are elderly horses they are seeking a loan home which is experienced with the ailments that come with old age such as Arthritis and Cushing’s Disease. They need a barn or stables available in colder weather and generally, require lots of TLC and affection. Due to Arthritis both horses are currently retired and require supplements for their joints.

If you think you may be able to offer these veterans a suitable retirement home, please get in touch with Hope Pastures. If you can support the work we do, please do not forget that at R&R we are selling Hope Pastures Christmas Cards, Calendars and Knitted Ponies and we have also agreed to be a collection post for any donations of tack or horsey goods.

Coming up is road safety week from 18th to 24th November. As equestrians, if we have to take our horses on the road, we become some of the most vulnerable road users out there.

We have a great selection of reflective gear in stock for both horse and rider - and we all know how effective hi-viz can be!

We also have a handy highway code blog with all the rules of the road and lots of top tips.

Take advantage on these offers on both horse and dog feed. Offers end 30th November.
